WhatsApp Update | Your Messages, Photo, Videos might be deleted after 12th November, 2018

WhatsApp update
WhatsApp will get a new update for chats, videos, photos back up till the month of November 2018. This update will start deleting your saved photos, messages and videos.
Till now, WhatsApp was taking backups on Google Drive, but due to some changes on Google’s policy, WhatsApp won’t be taking backups on this cloud platform after this particular update. The backups that are already on the drive will be safe, but it won’t be counted towards the storage limit of the users.
However, WhatsApp will start deleting your back-up from the Google Drive if you haven’t updated it in the last one year. The old backups will completely disappear from your google drive.
What can you do?
You will have to manually backup the WhatsApp contents in your device and then transfer this data to your google drive before 12th November 2018.
WhatsApp media and chats can be backed up in your google drive but it is recommended to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi as backups can be of varying size and can consume your mobile data which can also cause some additional charges.
Steps to manually backup WhatsApp
First, install google drive in your mobile and then sign in with your Google account. Then follow these steps below:
Step 1 – Open your WhatsApp and click on 3 dots placed on the top upper right corner.
Step 2 – Click on settings.
Step 3 – Click on Chats and then on Back Up.
After selecting Backup, the database of your WhatsApp will be backed up on your google drive automatically.
– Open WhatsApp and go to Menu, then to Settings, then Chats, then Chat Back up.
– If you select Backup, everything on the phone would be automatically backed up to the Google Drive.
In an email to users, Google said, “Due to a new agreement between WhatsApp and Google, WhatsApp backups will no longer count against Google Drive storage quota. However, any WhatsApp backups that have not been updated in more than a year will automatically be removed from storage,”.
This is one of the major updates that will be releasing this year. There are other 6 different updates which are available for beta testers and will be made available to the normal users very soon. Some of these updates are WhatsApp Picture in Picture (PiP) mode, WhatsApp forward message limit.
