Veg Manchow Soup Recipe | Easy Manchow Soup Recipe

A veg manchow soup recipe and some other common soups like hot and sour soup and tomato soup are some of the main soups served in many Indo-Chinese restaurants. Unlike, other recipes, I keep the consistency of this homemade manchow soup bit thin as per my preference.

Indo-Chinese soups are generally topped with fried crispy noodles. You can either make them at home or use a store brought fried noodles. This gives a crunchy and really nice taste to your soup recipes. Each type of soup will taste different for each topping. Fried crispy noodles go well with indo-chinese soups only. If you add them into a bowl of tomato soup or vegetable soup, it won’t taste good. Instead, you should use breadsticks for smooth and creamy soups.

In this veg manchow soup recipe, I have only used some veggies like cabbage, french beans, and carrots. But, you can use any veggies of your own choice. You can also use chicken or meat pieces in your manchow soup. This soup is best enjoyed as a starter dish, but sometimes if you feel like having a light lunch or dinner, then you can definitely go for this recipe.

Manchow Soup | Veg Manchow Soup Recipe

To make this soup recipe, you would need,

  • Red Chili
  • Onions
  • Oil
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Cabbage
  • French Beans
  • Carrots
  • Soy Sauce
  • Cornstarch
  • Black Pepper Powder
  • Water
  • Vinegar
  • Salt

– Take a frying pan, heat some oil. Add chopped ginger and chopped garlic and saute for a minute.

– Then add chopped green chilies, chopped onions, and mix well. Now, add all the other remaining vegetables and saute for a minute or two. Don’t overcook the vegetables. Keep them half cooked.

– Take 6 tsp of cornstarch in a small bowl, add water, mix well, and keep it aside.

– After the veggies are done frying, reduce the flame on low and then add soy sauce and black pepper powder, and mix them well.

– Now transfer all the vegetable mix into a kadhai. Add water, salt, into it, and allow the soup to simmer in low flame.

– Add the cornstarch paste to the soup, mix well, and let your soup thicken on a low flame. Now, add the vinegar, stir well let your soup thicken as per your preference, and switch off the flame.

– Your Manchow soup is ready.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Red Chili Chopped
  • ¼ cup Onions Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Ginger Chopped
  • 1 tsp Garlic Chopped
  • cup Cabbage Shredded
  • cup French Beans Chopped
  • cup Carrots Chopped
  • 2 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 5 tsp Cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 3 cups Water
  • ¼ tsp Vinegar
  • Salt According to your Requirement

Steps to Prepare the Veg Manchow Soup

  • Take a frying pan, heat 1 tbsp oil on a medium flame.
  • Add 1 Tsp chopped ginger and 1 tsp chopped garlic and saute for a minute.
  • Then add chopped green chilies, chopped onions, and mix well.
  • Now, add all the other remaining vegetables and saute for a minute or two. Don’t overcook the vegetables. Keep them half cooked.
  • In meanwhile, take 6 tsp of cornstarch in a small bowl, add 2 Tbsp of water, mix well, and keep it aside.
  • After the veggies are done frying, reduce the flame on low and then add 2 Tsp soy sauce and ¼ tsp of black pepper powder and mix them well.
  • Now transfer all the vegetable mix into a kadhai. Add 3 cups of water, salt, into it and allow the soup to simmer in low flame.
  • Add the cornstarch paste to the soup, mix well and let your soup thicken on a low flame. 
  • Now, add the vinegar, stir well alet your soup thicken as per your preference and switch off the flame.
  • Your Manchow soup is ready.

Notes

  • To make your soup thicker, take 8 Tbsp of cornstarch and make a paste of it.
  • You can add vegetables of your own choice.
  • Adding 1 to 2 Tsp of chili sauce will enhance the taste.
  • You can add mushrooms to increase the nutritional benefits.
