Besan (Gram Flour) 1 Cup
Tomato (Chopped) ½ Cup / 1 Medium
Ginger (Chopped) ½ Tsp
Green Chili (Chopped) ½ Tsp
Ajwain (Carom Seeds) ½ Tsp
Jeera (Cumin Seeds) ½ Tsp
Red Chili powder (Optional) ½ Tsp
Salt According to your taste

Steps to make Besan Chilla Recipe

How to make Chilla Batter?

Step 1: Take a large bowl.

Step 2: Add 1 Cup of Besan in it.

Step 3: Then add Onion, Tomato (Optional), Ginger, Green Chilli, Ajwain, Jeera and Red chili powder and mix properly for 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 4: Now, add a little water to it probably ½ cup.

Step 5: Take a spatula and mix it properly.

Step 6: Your batter should be neither too thick, nor too thin. So add water if you want, or besan.

Step 7: Keep your batter smooth and airy.

How to make Besan Chilla?




Step 1: Now, take a flat Dosa pan, heat it on a high flame till the pan gets hot.

Step 2: Bring the flame on medium and then sprinkle some oil in it.

Step 3: Using a ladle, drop 1 ladle batter in the center of the pan.

Step 4: Slightly spread the batter using the back side of the ladle.

Step 5: Cook the Chilla until the upper side is half cooked.

Step 6: Spread some oil on the sides of Chilla.

Step 7: Now, slowly slide the ladle beneath the chilla and flip it.

Step 8: Cook it for a minute or two.

Your Chilla is ready to be served. Place them on a casserole to keep them warm.

Tips for a perfect Besan Chilla

  1. You can add vegetables of your own.
  2. You can also increase or decrease the spiciness according to your taste.
  3. For crispiness, you can also add 1 tbsp of corn flour.
  4. The recipe can be doubled.
  5. You can also add leafy vegetables.
