Take a bowl, add 2 tbsp Masoor Dal, ½ cup Toor Dal and rinse them properly.
Now, in a pressure cooker, add ½ tsp salt, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 ½ cup water, and stir them well.
Pressure cook it for 5 whistles or until the dal is cooked properly.
After it is cooked, add some water and keep it aside.
Take a large Kadhai, bring it to heat on low flame.
Add 2 tbsp ghee, 1 bay leaf, ½ tsp cumin seeds, 2 dried red chilies, and a pinch of hing and saute them for a minute or two.
Then, add 1 inch chopped ginger, 2 cloves of garlic chopped, 1 chopped green chili and saute them properly.
Add 1 medium chopped onion, 1/s tsp of chili powder, ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, ½ tsp of salt, and ½ tsp of coriander powder while keeping the flame on low saute it till the onions turn translucent.
Add 1 medium chopped tomatoes and saute till it melts.
Now, add the cooked dal into this tadka over and simmer it for 5 to 10 minutes on a medium flame.
Top it with 1 tsp of Kasuri methi, 2 tbsp of coriander, and ¼ tsp of garam masala. Mix them well.
Your Dal fry Tadka is ready to be served. Serve it with steamed rice or Jeera fried rice.
